Omnimon, as far as the eye can see.

Omnimon, the Legendary Warrior of the Royal Knight. For as long as it has existed in Digimon lore, it has maintained its place as the ultimate symbol of the series as a whole. Omnimon, in its many forms, has held its fabled head high as the final culmination of light and goodness, in numerous Digimon stories across Vpets, anime, and countless video games. The Digimon TCG has been no stranger to this fact, releasing the original Omnimon (BT1-084) as its most powerful, and most sought-after card (its alt-art form selling for literal hundreds of dollars online at its peak). Now, Digimon TCG will fully embrace Omnimon with a plethora of new Omnimon Digimon and support cards in the new set, BT5 Battle of Omni, releasing in English this August. Without further ado, let this article be your guiding white light to all cards Omnimon.

The Royal Knight (BT1-084)

At 15000 DP, the indisputable tier 1 card from the original set. This Omnimon stood at the peak of the metagame for the first few sets of the Digimon TCG. Able to run out of both blue and red decks, with red being slightly more popular due to the possible inclusion of Gaia Force (ST1-016), this Omnimon was the force to be reckoned with and is still run in many decks today. Evolving from either a red, or blue, level 6 for a cost of 6, its powerful effect deletes one of your opponents Digimon, as well as all Digimon that shares its name. While being able to delete multiple Digimon that share a name (Diaboromon, or Commandramon decks come to mind) is powerful in its own right, the real strength of this effect is that, unlike similar deletion type Digimon, there are no conditions to what its player can choose to target. Its ability works a bit like without the title. It allows its player to return one of its level 6 digivolution sources to their hand and unsuspend Omnimon allowing for an extra attack, or to protect itself from being a target for enemy attacks next turn.

The New Challenger (BT3-112)

The first of many altered versions of Omnimon to grace the Digimon TCG, Omnimon Alter-S is a fusion originally born from BlitzGreymon, and CresGarurumon, rather than the usual WarGreymon, and MetalGarurumon combo. In the TCG, Alter-S opens itself up to digivolving from either red or black, in keeping with BlitzGreymon (BT3-018) CresGarurumon (BT3-073), for a cost of 6, and Rivals BT1 Omnimon at 15000 DP. Its fierce effect first triggers on all of your opponent's board, then deletes any of their Digimon that are left with less than 5000 DP. When timed right, Alter-S is easily one of the most powerful board wipes in the game, but certainly not THE most powerful. Coupled with its high attack power and ability to make itself unblockable by removing one of its level 6 evolution sources, Alter-S is not a force to be ignored on the battlefield.

The Legendary Warrior (BT5-086)

The swifter of the two unaltered Omnimons, BT5's Omnimon sits at 14000 on the DP scale, just slightly below BT1 Omnimon, and doesn't come with an inherent ability to clear your opponent's board. But, what it lacks in raw aggressive power it more than makes up for in its speed of play and staying power. Much like BT1's Omnimon before it, BT5 evolves from either red or blue but does so at a play cost of only 4 this time. While this is certainly a much lower cost than we are used to seeing from level 6 Digimon, the true power of BT5 Omnimon is in its 2 effects. Firstly, Omnimon will unsuspend itself, and secondly, will make use of the mechanic being introduced in BT5, allowing it to attack your opponent just before your turn ends, even if you have already passed the memory counter over to your opponent's side of the gauge. This extra attack is so often unexpected by an opponent who has confidently left you with too little memory to really capitalize on, and can so easily become a final blow, or the difference between a win or a loss in a close match. Beyond its cheaper evolution cost, and ability to blitz your opponent's field or security unexpectedly, BT5 Omnimon also boasts some of the best-staying power in the game with its ability allowing its player to remove one of its level 6 evolution sources to prevent it from leaving the field when it would be deleted or returned to the hand or the deck by an opponent's card effect, rendering it immune to even the effects of cards like Millenniummon (BT2-083), or Nidhoggmon (BT4-062) which are the bane of so many other level 7s.

The Dark Avenger (BT5-087)

An Omnimon born from the fusion of Black WarGreymon and Black MetalGarurumon, Omnimon Zwart rivals the strength of its counterpart in many aspects. Sharing the same 15000 DP we have come to expect, Zwart is no slouch in the power department. It comes outfitted with a crazy strong ability as well, allowing its player to delete one of their opponent's unsuspended Digimon with a play cost of 12 or less (nearly anything under level 7) by returning one of its level 6 evolution sources to their hand. Not only does Zwart boast a power that is near to the largest we see in the TCG, but using its ability, it also ensures that it never battles alone; upon successful digivolution, Zwart's player is able to call not one, but two black or purple Digimon each with a play cost of 8 or less from its owner's trash. This can lead to setting up some really aggressive-looking board states, easily build up blockers when needed, or pull off some of your specific deck's craziest combos using nearly any of your trashed Digimons' effects. If nothing else, as the first level 7 to be accessible to purple builds since Millenniummon (BT2-083) released over a year ago, it will be sure to see play in almost all purple builds for the foreseeable future.

The Fallen Berserker (BT5-112)

The Result of an Omnimon Zwart infected by a virus, its holy tendencies at constant war with the savage virus within, Omnimon Zwart: Defeat rampages uncontrollably through the digital world destroying all in its path. While this inner turmoil does lead to some of its true power being inaccessible in this form, Defeat's DP of 13000 is certainly nothing to scoff at. Its wild tendencies grant it two terrifying abilities: For a digivolution cost of just 3, from either a purple or a black level 6, Defeat's effect deletes an opponent's tamer, the only tamer deletion in the game at this point, as well as an effect that brings it onto the field for free whenever it's found in your security stack, making it the most fearsome security Digimon to date by a long shot! While taking this rampaging Digimon off the board is certainly no easy task, opponents who manage to delete it will be traded to its effect ensuring that it takes any Digimon of its player's choice down with it. The uniqueness of all three of Defeat's abilities make it a strong contender for any deck wanting to run a variety of different tools capable of handling any situations an opponent throws its way.

The X-Antibody (BT5-111)

When the terrifying X-program, capable of deleting everything that exists within the Digital World, the only Digimon capable of standing in its way are those imbued with the power of the X-Antibody, a firewall rendering its host immune to the unstoppable deletion force of the X-program. Omnimon: X-Antibody takes a stand as Digimon TCG Omnimon's final form (so far). While at first glance, this Digimon is capable of evolving from any red, or blue level 6 Digimon for an evolution cost of 6, in truth, due to its ability to evolve directly on top of any Digimon with Omnimon in its name (and at half the cost) we can easily see this card making its way into any deck running any of the Digimon detailed above. The fact that its deletion ability to clear the board of one Digimon less than or equal to its own (a base of 15000) is a, rather than an, which means it can be used once or more each turn making it way more consistently abusable than any others. As if the ultimate sword weren't enough, X-Antibody also boasts a near unbreakable shield for any challenging Digimon somehow able to survive its onslaught. Using its <Opponent's Turn> ability, by removing any 2 of its evolution sources from it, X-Antibody can immediately cancel the attack of any Digimon. The fact that this can be used even while suspended, and multiple times per turn makes X-Antibody the ultimate form of Omnimon for both offense and defense.
