Description - Examon is one of my most-played decks, and after fine-tuning ratios and learning matchups, this deck has become dreaded at my local scene, having taken two local wins straight. I'm going to go into the details of the ratios for each level and the mindset behind the decisions. It requires some good piloting to make it really shine, but I find I'm able to go toe-to-toe with most of the current meta decks around with it.
Eggs - The new egg is just what this deck needed: consistent draw power. When comboed with the new Jamming Coredramon, it's beneficial to take that early swing just for free security removal and extra draw. And when you reach your top end, the extra draws will flood your hand. The old eggs just do not compare but if you have to add a 5th one, the BT-10 one would be a decent option.
Level 3s - This is about where I see everyone struggle to decide ratios. Dracomon has various colors and uses, and in the end, I opted for 3 of each as I see each having its uses. EX3 search is needed for this deck to grab missing pieces, the P-092 is a under appreciated combo piece that makes it easier for you to end turns on Wingdramon and Groundramon, BT-20 is useful to stock you up on memory and more draw as you search your pieces which is useful with the lack of tamer support, Dracomon (X-Antibody) is a key combo piece off any of them allowing you to hit level 2 free and giving you End of turn DNA. Each has unique roles, and I found myself being unable to go without any of them, so a ratio of 3 each seemed to balance out well.
Level 4s - Coredramon I run a set of 3 each of the new BT-20 variants, while I find the blue side of this line to be much better than the green, as Jamming comes up far more often than Raid. Both have the option to digivolve off a Dracomon/Examon in text on hard play allows for easier setup into ending your board with Wingdramon and Groundramon, which is the game plan of the deck. I run 2 old EX3 Coredramon blue as early evade is fairly difficult to out and giving it as an inherited helps in keeping your line alive against deletion. 2 old EX3 Coredramon Green is mostly for balance, the blocker inherited is nice to have, and it is something you want to have around if you're ever going into old EX3 Examon.
Level 5s - There is no contest here. The new Bt-20 Wingdramon and Groundramon blow the old EX3 ones out of the water, and the new Dracomon (X-Antibody) inherited replaces the only reason you would ever run the old ones. Groundramon is great to tap down a target to stall or lock a tamer for later Breakdramon removal. Wingdramon is good for floodgate removal or just low-level removal to set the opponent back. Both their inherited abilities are great for just tearing security apart in one turn once you're set up. These two are easily the heart of the deck as they also open the door to when you can start threatening Examon on board, with them counting as the level 6s in name while on board. Easy 4 of each.
Level 6s - For the level 6s in this deck, you want them in hand more so than on board for threatening Examon, but the option to use them should always be considered as an option. Starting with Slayerdramon, the new BT-20 one is great removal, and its inherited super evade helps deal with some difficult cards in this meta, basically making you able to dodge everything but De-digivolve and -DP. Still I find it better as a tech option over what EX3 Slayerdramon can do which is a forced attack on demand, it has some play around as the opponent gets to pick which mon, but if they don't have one tapped down, or are trying to bring up something from breeding, this card can be a hard lockdown for them if they rely on breeding and for that it's best to have either inherited or as slayerdramon himself as soon as possible so I opt for 3 of. Breakdramon is kinda the opposite, the new BT20 is a crazy enabler, allowing for an end of the turn attack when played or digivolved, suspend down two targets (Digimon or Tamers), opening them up for his removal effect when you break something by battle, it's the better option to run 3 of out of the Breakdramons. Old EX3 Breakdramon is more or less a tech option, used for extra suspension or as a 5th Groundramon effect going around to destroy Security.
Level 7s - Now we come to Examon, the BT-20 Ace is an amazingly threatening card, able to potentially bottom deck multiple mons, Keyword soup of Evade, Blocker, Pierce, and Raid. While you don't get the bottom deck on Hard play, if you're playing against a heavy De-Digivolve deck, it may be worth just hard playing it anyway. On board, it's really hard to remove while being able to evade twice a turn. Old EX3 Examon is in here for a non-ace alternative for things like Unleash the Dragon Gene, or the End of turn DNA. It doesn't have the keywords natively, but it is incredibly strong in its own right with allowing you to free play another level 6 for free when you get it out. Examon (X-Antibody) is essentially a tech option to give it an extra push for the game when needed. Kind of a win more card, it loses raid to tap down the board, usually opening up a desperate defense to allow you to seal the win.
Options & Tamers - The Deck has no dedicated tamer, but old BT-3 Davis has always been ideal for the deck. It's a mem setter and gives the deck some much-needed search where the only thing it won't see is the red dracomon. Westeria memory boosts are preferred as they see everything but EX3 Coredramon green and EX3 Breakdramon. Megadeath is simple, cheap, and easy to use ace removal that's online in most cases unless you're on red Dracomon at the time. Unleash the Dragon Gene is a great combo piece, but it is limited by its opposite color requirement of red. While it's online most of the time, it's very useful for setting up Wingdramon and Groundramon and gives them both an added layer of protection if they would leave the battlefield.
Combo - My favorite combo in this is using Unleash the Dragon Gene in a setup play of Wingdramon and Groundramon. With that protection, if they try anything that isn't de-digivolve, the two can DNA into old EX3 Examon, which can then play BT-20 Breakdramon on the opponent's turn, which then actually allows your new Examon to attack on the opponent's turn. If they try something like Collision or Raid to try and remove them by battle instead, well, you also threaten ace off both Wingdramon and Groundramon.
