UPDATE 07/14/2024
Made much needed changes to address the one issue this deck has, which is "Memory Effeciency".
- Opted to include 1x copy of the BT8 Kari Kamiya to ensure I start my turn at 3 memory. Never have to deal with "Memory Choking" and the extra memory gained on top of it with BT11 Mirei Mikagura really helps out with hard playing Gatomons.
- BT8 Mist Memory Boost! further aids in just having access to the extra memory when needed to ensure I can make vital plays without passing turn. It also helps build trash with potentially good pieces. Its a gamble since it blindly mills two cards off the top of deck, but 90% of the time, it works in your favor.
- BT17 ShineGreymon: Burst Mode ACE is an amazingly powerful tool to have. Being able to "Blast Digivolve" on top of your Mastemon is something most opponents will not expect. Aids in extra Tamer plays and is overall a great way to clear multiple security early
These changes made a huge difference in the way the deck played. There was a significant boost in effeciency and speed. Placed 2nd at Gamers Alley EVO Cup. Match-ups are as followed.
Round 1
2-1 (BlackWarGreymon) WIN
Round 2
2-1 (Omnimon ACE) WIN
Round 3
2-1 (AncientGarurumon) WIN
FINAL ROUND
0-1 (Imperialdramon) LOSE
Faced off against some of the best meta decks in the BT17 format. Imperialdramon was unfortunately the worst match-up for this deck. It just can't keep up with the speed and memory effeciency of Imperialdramon. Borderline and impossible match-up.
A list I'm very confident with after extensive play testing since release. This variation of Mastemon is [Purple] base for more early game aggression.
-CARD CHOICES-
Digitama
- ST10 Nyaromon for the constant cycling from deck and building trash. Able to utilize this skill due to it not being retricted to a [Once Per Turn]. Can be triggered multiple times.
Lv.3-Rookies
- BT16 Salamon just being a dual color Yellow/Purple is strong in its own right, as this allows you access to your "Chaos Degradation"/"Flame Hellscythe" very early in the game. Allows for a reduced evolution into a "Gatomon" from Trash which potentially leads to more search via "EX6 Gatomon" if used as the target of evolution.
- EX6 Salamon is just a resource to gain extra memory. Great way to just pass turns/choke an opponent on memory by just hard playing. If it survives or if your opponent decides not to deal with it on their turn, you just get a free memory as long as you have a Purple Digimon/Tamer in play.
- BT8 Psychemon counters the "Seven Great Demon Lords" or any other cards that potentially can be played for a reduced cost.
- BT2 Gazimon counters any memory gain outside of Tamer effects. Stops Ukkomon from gaining opponents additional resources. Alternatively, you can opt to play BT8 Digimon Emperor. Really depends on your own preference of ratios.
Lv.4-Champions
- ST10 Gatomon is a main source of searching out vital components to get you to your "Mastemon" plays. Also gaining the ability to DNA Digivolve at the [End of Turn] is a strong tool to have access to.
- EX6 Gatomon acts just the same as the "ST10 Gatomon". Searches out vital components as well as your "Mirei" Tamers.
- BT11 Devimon closes out games via RUSH. Just make sure you do have a Yellow source present on board via a Digimon or Tamer.
Lv.5 Ultimates
- BT11 LadyDevimon acts as a tool to recover back vital components from the Trash. [Retaliation] gained through inherent skill is also a very strong tool to keep your opponent from haphazordly attacking into your "Mastemon" stacks.
- EX6 LadyDevimon is one of your strongest tools you now have access to. Capable of deleting any Lv.4 or lower body your opponent controls, but also has the ability to play out a "Mirei" Tamer from the trash without paying the cost. Has built in [Retaliation] and [Scapegoat] inherit skill is extremely powerful to have. Prevents any form of deletion, outside of your own personal deletion effects, by deleting another Digimon you control. Losing a DP check during battle? Delete another Digimon instead and protect your stack! Opponent triggers an effect to delete your stack? Delete another Digimon instead and protect your stack! Always be aware of your access to [Scapegoat].
- BT11 Angewomon allows you to search your security stack for potential vital components that will help you get to your "Mastemon" plays. Gives you access to [Blocker] via inherit skill in order to protect yourselve from potential lethal attacks to security.
- EX6 Angewomon powercreeps the "ST10 Angewomon". Capable of inflicting a opponent's Digimon with [Security Attack -2] until the end of their next turn or to play out a "Mirei" Tamer from your hand without paying the cost. Has built in [Barrier] in order to protect itself from deletion in battle. Be advised. Trigger [Barrier] accordingly. Do not risk too much early Security loss by doing so. Gives your stack access to [Alliance] via inherit skill. Allows for aggressive plays into security or helps get over larger DP targets.
- BT15 Angewomon ACE acts as an "Emergency" situation for me. You will rarely ever see yourself evolving into this card. Can act as a cost effective way to create a "Mastemon" stack if needed. Can potentially help with DP reduction deletion if coupled with the "EX6 Salamon & "EX6 Gatomon" if you decide to evolve onto the same stack. Gives you the capabillty to DP reduce a target up to 10K.
Lv.6-Mega
- ST10 Mastemon acts as your main "Mastemon" to play. Helps strenghten your board presence by playing out a Lv.5 or lower Yellow or Purple Digimon. You also delete a Digimon equal to or lesser than the Lv. of the Digimon played. Complete board control.
- EX6 Mastemon is just another "Chaos Degradation" in Digimon form. Powerful tool to potentially rid yourself of any big threats and manipulating your opponent's security stack by forcing them to trash until only 4 remain. Very strong presence overall. Just having any of your "Angewomon"/"LadyDevimon" present on the board is a constant threat now and can create a lot of pressure to your opponent due to being able to [Blast DNA Digivolve] with just the counterpart component in your hand.
Lv.7 Mega
- BT9 DeathXmon counters decks like Numemon, AncientGarurumon, Loogamon. Generally, any deck that tends to go too wide and has several Tamer plays.
- EX4 ShineGreymon: Ruin Mode counters decks like "Diaboromon". Acts as a suppressing tool. Try not to evolve on top of a ACE card with it. Sometimes it will have to, but I advise doing it as a "Last Resort".
- BT17 ShinGreymon Burst Mode ACE gives this deck even more counter-play capabilities, allowing any of your Mastemon to blast digivolve into it. Allows for Tamer set up and has the capabilities to delete a high DP threat. Can easily check 3 Security cards with very little risk. BT16 Salamon reduces the security Digimon's DP by 3000, so you'll have a very high likelyhood of clearing all your checks, as long as it isn't a security bomb.
OPTIONS
- BT7 Calling From Darkness helps recover any Purple color Digimon that you can't search/retreive normally. "Psychemon/EX4 ShineGreymon: Ruin Mode/DeathXmon" being the main targets that this deck can't normally search/retrieve via "EX6 Gatomon".
- BT6 Reinforcing Memory Boost helps recover a potentially threatening card into security as well as gaining you a vital component needed for your overall gameplan. Helps extend plays with its [Delay] effect to gain back 3 memory.
- BT8 Mist Memory Boost! additionally aids in the "Memory Effeciency" issue this deck faces. Builds trash with potential resources and you get a free draw from deck.
- ST10 Chaos Degradation acts as a powerful removal tool.
Tamers
- BT11 Mirei Mikagura acts as a constant source of memory and plays out "AngeWomon/LadyDevimon".
- EX6 Mirei Mikagura plays in tandem with the "BT11" counterpart. Both Tamer cards are REQUIRED for this deck.
- BT8 Kari Kamiya ensures you start turn at 3 Memory and can suspend to gain 1 memory once per turn when a card is added to your security stack during your turn.
