Introduction: Since Bandai is uncapable of deciding what the hell to do with the Gallantmon archetype, it has a lot of versatility and ways to play, all up to the preference of the pilot. Between all builds, a goal is clear - to fill the opponent's trash in order to abuse effects from Gallantmon (BT13-111), Guilmon (EX4-006), and, of course, Gallantmon: Crimson Mode (BT17-018). This build, contrarily to previous iterations, tries to delete to fill the trash. Gallantmon as a deck, due to this wide variety of options and (mostly mid) support, does not have a defined optimal way to play, although, when the new BT17 support, Gallantmon (BT17-016) is likely our best means of survival in this environment.
The Crimson Knight: Gallantmon (BT17-016), though at first glance might not seem all that special, is a very, very powerful card to survive in the current environment. Its DP+ being active until the next turn, paired up with Gallantmon: Crimson Mode (BT17-018)'s existence, makes it very hard for opponent's to remove it by battle and other DP based removal. The 8k removal threshold makes it so, thanks to the new inheritables Guilmon (BT17-008) and Growlmon (BT17-010) have to be able to delete 12k digimon, something very hard to do previously. That is also the reason I am running 4-of each of them. Its 3 cost, also allows a promoted Guilmon to biomerge with Takato Matsuki (BT12-089), keeping turn, which is very powerful as we can convert a Guilmon into a Crimson Mode for game. Gallantmon (X Antibody) (BT9-017) is currently a very nice card to provide some extra offense, removal or unsuspend our blocker Gallantmon.
Techs: Gigimon (BT12-001) is here to help us delete higher DPs more consistently. This allows us to delete a 11k mega with only one BT17 inheritable, or 13k with both, which is definitely relevant in some matchups, mainly vs the Dorugoramon deck. If you feel like your meta makes BT12-001 kind of useless, consider Gigimon (BT17-001) or Gigimon (EX2-001). If your meta is infested with swarm decks, Gallantmon is one of the decks with the most reward for using cards like Crimson Blaze (BT8-097). Crimson Savior (BT17-096) is mostly a very weak card, whose effect is practically useless in the majority of matchups. It allows you to setup a Guilmon or a Takato from the trash, which is the only reason you would ever consider running the card. Personally, I find Red Memory Boost! (P-035) more useful, for the sake of consistency and memory manipulation, as the BT17 line needs memory to be manipulated this way. WarGrowlmon (BT17-013) is an ok card. Its [When Digivolving] effect is a bit lackluster, however its inheritable can boost up the power of Gallantmon: Crimson Mode (BT17-018), after blasting on top of Gallantmon (BT17-016), to potentially delete a target and unsuspend, being able to then block. I am not running it as I favor the better [When Digivolving] effects of WarGrowlmon (EX3-062) and WarGrowlmon (BT12-016).
Budget Choices: If you are on a budget, you are currently able to play this deck. The issue is, naturally, Gallantmon (BT13-111), which, fortunetly, is not all that necessary for the current environment. If you do not have any copies of this card, I would recommend adding another Gallantmon (X Antibody) (BT9-017) and another 1-of Gallantmon of your choice.
