Twilight's Oath // DarkKnightmon Bt-15
Deck Description
A DarkKnight deck I took to my locals twice and went 3-0 both nights.
Day 1:
Game 1: BloomLord (2-1)
Game 2: Rosemon: Burst Mode (2-0)
Game 3: FenrirLoogamon (2-0 Though the person was very new to the game)
Day 2:
Game 1: GraceNova (2-0)
Game 2: Ace Mega Zoo Zwart Pile (2-1)
Game 3: Xros Heart (2-0)
Bt-10 DarkKnight was so important in these games. Having an 8k blocker that is able to reduce it's cost to 4 and be a potential removal is imperative and has gotten better with the introduction of Aces. Being able to de-digivolve a level 6 (or even 7) and destroying the ace source below allows your DarkKnight's cost to be 1 or free. The same goes for the Might Axe Mode being able to destroy lower level aces with it's effect. Bt-7 DarkKnight is a great to digivolve over the Might Axe with two sources or play off of the X-Antibody. The X-Antibody was great in the Xros Heart matchup being able to destroy a Taiki I hit off the top of the security and was important for winning multiple games by readding the Mercurymon I would often end up milling off of Pride Memory boost or Immortal Ruler. This deck is also decently budgeted due to running the Bt-7 Skullknight over the promo. The 7 plays better with Mighty Axe and Cavalier as well as being a cheaper digivolve which sometime matters for board presence. I also opted to run the twilight DeadlyAxe vs the bt-7 due to the amount of non-targets in the deck. Your generic option cards are important to draw into or hit in security. Iron-fisted onslught and dimension can help keep a board clear and remove many targets DarkKnight cannot (I was in a game with the zwart deck and unable to out a 6 cost Wisemon for most of the game). Dorumon was truly awful in my deck. I never had it in security and would often draw it and use it for a draw on Pagumon and get a cheap check (maybe). Pagu was also lackluster. While I would occassionally get the draw on my own turn I would often whiff on an option or tamer.
It's not a stretch to consider this deck a black version of Security control. Often times you're willing to give your opponent large amounts of memory just to keep the board clean (often times I would treat Iron-Fist as a Gaia Force) and you'll mulligan your hand of options and dorumon's just to have a strong security that can blow out your opponent.
Overall I am very happy with how this deck performed and may consider some changes opting for a thrid Iron-Fist instead of an Ultimate Flare and possibly changing Dorumon for the security Chikuri. This deck has such a fun play pattern that results in this endless conga line of guys and carries an amazing amount of utility with it's boss monsters. Highly reccomended for someone looking for a high skill ceiling.
